Who runs the NDIS?

The NDIS is operated by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), an independent Australian Government agency. It is also responsible for providing information and linking participants to services and activities.

NDIS Objectives

The main objective of the NDIS is to provide funds to meet the participant’s needs and goals. Ultimately, the scheme wants to enable the participants to exercise choice and control over their own life and become independent. The NDIS recognise that everyone is different. Therefore, it is essential to personalise the plans.

Other objectives include:

  • Community inclusion and encouragement to socialise and interact with other people.
  • Providing the opportunity for professional and carer development.
